What’s with me and bad albums, well i always had a big admiration for Mushroomhead‘s music and creativity, no one combined a sense of alternative metal than this folks, mixing everything up and spitting musical gems, that is until now, seems frontman J. Mann is no longer part of the band and it shows… terribly, this is no evolution and if it’s a revolution than it’s not a democratic one, it sounds like shit, it lacks the aggression, it lacks the hooks, it lacks the good lyrics, it lacks everything, it sounds like their old albums but without that alternative approach, point blank “Savior Sorrow” is embarrassing.

Is there anything to grab on to? Well there are some slightly interesting stuff, and i put emphasis on slightly, its one of those albums, that could entice me to change the laws of physics and turn back time so i would stop myself from listening to it, so i wouldn’t have this bad opinion from the band, but since that didn’t happen my mind has changed from a “Mushroomhead Rock, this guys are great and not only i would buy their music, but I would watch their shows, and try and cull every girl i can get my hands on to check it out” to “Were do this guys live? Does a professional hit man accept credit card?”, this is beyond disappointment, this is a killing spree of disgruntlesness (don’t even know if that word really exists).

“Saviour Sorrow” Check List: “12 Hundred” I make similar sounds when I’m with the shits, that gurgling sound, “Simple Survival” Emo gay shit, and it’s actually one of the best in the album, it almost is as good as the worst of their previous album, “Damage Done” … “Stoned” I prefer Afromans Version, at least its funny, “Save Us” … Save us from Ourselves … A slow one and even they fuck it up, it sounds like Alanis Moriset making a duet with Nikcelback, “Tattoo” Completely Bland, It’s so bland that i had to turn my TV on to entertain me for the remaining 3 minutes, “Erase The Doubt” Oh God what were they thinking? i can’t believe they are being paid for this, this is like… being completely detached from reality and really mean it, all at the same time, “Burn” At least this one is short, “Just Pretending” Uhhh i didn’t know justin timberlake sings on this one? Uh the second at least average song on the album, “The Need” Uh nice follow up, after the last one i was almost missing the shitty song writing … “Cut Me” Oh I’ll cut something for sure “The Fallen” I’m getting emotional here, finally something really … disgusting?, i was wondering when something like that would pop up “Embrace The Ending” Slow Idiotic One, just like when you are giving blood, and the nurse forgets you are there and goes to lunch and comes back to find your sad rotting carcass.

Thank You Lord, after this experience, I’ve rekindle my belief in God… wait … God wouldn’t permit this blasphemy, not my God goddammit, damn i guess I’m back to my atheist / agnostic ways (yeah i fucking change my mind depending on the circumstances). Now speaking a bit frankly this is really a bad album, it just doesn’t make any sense, i actually can’t find any smear of interesting material, it lacks everything, maybe because i liked, yes liked, (this album is becoming a mind bender), their previous works i had big expectations, but this falls short, dead short, maybe if this wasn’t Mushroomhead i would have said it was an average album from an average band, since this is from Mushroomhead i will just say YOU GUYS SUCK.

“Without music, life would be an error” – Friedrich Nietzsche
“If its mushroomhead, i prefer the error” – fiend

Uhhh weeee, i’ll make this short and super sweet, Weezer are Weezer and i must say they have changed, there’s something about clean and nice rock that just brings a smile to my face, sure with time one would suspect they would get old, but their pop”ed” hard rock seems to still thrive, the last album was a bit of a strange affair as well as a 4 years (10 months in Meshuggah time) of wait for a new album seems a bit of a stretch, so here it is, let’s see if it will make me into a believer. The album starts with “Beverly Hills“, actually one of my favorites in the album, sounds gay as hell, and it’s fucking depressing, just my kind of thing…i guess hehehe, so anyway then comes “Perfect Situation” humm nice track, sounds like an oldie, classic Weezer, now “This is Such a Pity” uhhh experimenting are we? well it’s kinda nice with all the synth work, with a big build up, “Hold Me” is a boring soft track almost qualifies as a filer, “Peace” another softer track, then “We are all on drugs” ahhh now that’s better, rock and roll, “The Damage in Your Heart” and “Pardon Me” are ok…i guess, I’m getting a bit of a buzz but nothing too deep, I’m half way through and the album seems to be dying on me after that oh so good start.

“My Best Friend” humm more deja vu tracks, “The Other Way” well this one sucks, “Freak Me Out” uhhh another bad one, “Haunt You Every Day”, well there goes the album, fiend goes for the line, he shoots and he scores, right into the gutter, hurray for me.

So this one is giving me mixed feelings, i kinda like Weezer, they do ok stuff and reminds me of a time when i was a virgin and needed some soothing rock tunes to calm my raging hormones, nowadays i use sugary drinks and paranoid dementia as a substitute, well anyway those times are way gone (someone should point that out to the guys on Weezer) and so in the end, i guess they have a couple of good tunes, but it seems in the last 4 years there is nothing really new or at least really good, i know, i know, creating intelligent pop lyrics is a pain in the ass, so this one is for itunes, listen to it and buy the ones you like, the rest is better on the gutter, i guess i believe in fucking shit.

One thing about nin is that Mr Trent Reznor, sure take it’s time to make an album, when a new album pops up i tend to think… nin? i actually don’t remember your last album, not that i’m anal about how long it takes to make a decent album, but i tend to associate time with quality, and this is certainly true with nin, the albums are always of top quality, the music is always crisp, the production superb, well we have a new album, let’s see if indeed it has teeth.

The Album starts with “All the Love in the World” a build up song, that only Mr Reznor can make, it builds up to a full fledged rock piano/guitar combo, although a nice one, repeating “why do you get all the love in world” ad infinity, is far from engaging or original, are you that jealous? what is your reason for getting jealous? pretencios bitching is not that interesting, lets have a look at the next one “You Know What You Are”, it sound very close to “Starfuckers Inc”, its a distorted guitar rock tune, its good, “The Collector” comes next, a bit of a confusing song, not much point of interest, next the single “The Hand that Feeds” very dance pop, then comes “Love is Not Enough” again a build up song, again with highly distorted guitars to pull the chorus.

“Every Day is Exactly the Same” comes up and its probably one of the best on the album, not because it’s awesome, more because it drives on the more common nin formula, danceable rhythm, bleak lyrics and catchy chorus, great, but nothing new, the title track “With Teeth” comes up, and again the nin formula, a little heavier industrial maybe, but just the same thing, then comes up “Only” maybe the most danceable track of the album, its not bad, it’s quite catchy and therefore appealing, “Getting Smaller” is a more by numbers guitar driven rock, a little bit refreshing, nice tune, that lays the ground for “Sunspots” another slow driven track much like “Every Day is Exactly the Same”, only worse, it just doesn’t sound that good, it sounds just like any track from a dozen experimental pop bands, “The Line Begins to Blur” another slow one, sounds like it could have come from The Fragile, then comes the useless interlude “Beside You in Time” that drives to the last track “Right Where it Belongs”, that although interesting it’s nothing especial.

It’s one of those things, even thought the music is really good, it doesn’t seem new, it doesn’t have that fresh feeling, the lyrics are around the same angst lyrics that a million bands do and that nin always done, sure it sounded wickedly bleak 10 year ago (and that’s a good thing in this kind of music), now it just sounds boring and since we all know he’s life is pretty good, what’s his problem?, damn bitch, if no one loves you and you spend your time drinking and doing drugs, its because you are a fuck up, a 40 year old fuck up, and although being kind of sad it sure as hell doesn’t revolt me, nowadays if you get into drugs or alcohol or mushrooms its your fucking fault, if no one loves you, its your fucking fault, however if your a millionaire that has a really good life singing about how life is bleak, you are a hypocrite, whatever the reason may be, in my eyes you’ll still look foolish, anyway the music is of good quality, but its basically more of the same, as i said before the things i value more in music are quality and originality, quality is here, but originality is 10 years too late.

Nine Inch Nails – Every Day Is Exactly The Same
