Bloodshed – Inhabitants of Dis

Assembled in 1996 by Mikael (drums) and Joel (guitar), they soon saw the band increase in number and consistence with the addition of Robin (bass and growls), Tommy (guitar) and Glenn (vocals). In the course of time they released the debut demo When the Night Betrays the Light (97), the following demo The Laughter of Destruction (99) and the Skullcrusher EP, featuring their by then present way of playing with certain MERCILESS, MARDUK and NILE influences. 2002 saw the outcome of their debut CD release via Code666: Inhabitants of Dis.

Crimson Massacre – The Luster of Pandemonium

Yet another American Death Metal band reaches our headquarters and presents us with over 50 minutes of decaying madness. «Crimson Massacre? Who are these fellows? Now let’s just check their website and see what juicy information is there to be found.» But, alas, the thought of investigating the band’s roots and history was overcome by the complete lack of information currently characterizing the band’s (and label’s) website, so we will have to stick to the music.

Disease Illusion – Backworld

So Disease Illusion hail from Italy and play a sort of Dark Tranquility/In Flames melodeath, not a bad thing per say, but a pretty popular and filled genre, seems this is a re-invention of sorts, since the band was previously called “The Reapers” playing some Thrash Metal and now they are playing Melodic Death, interesting.

Anachronaeon – The Ethereal Throne

Humm so Anachronaeon, unfortunately never heard of them, it happens! Still its a Swedish duo formed by Patrik Carlsson and Andreas Åkerlind, from the first couple of listens this album a blackish melodic death metal it has a bit a feel of a concept album with tracks flowing pretty well between themselves, also i liked the the cover art, you can check yourself on top, it does look pretty good! That or maybe lately I’ve been way too much around black metal hehehe, anyways here is “The Ethereal Throne”.

Lex Talionis – The Supreme Aggression

The first few notes of Endless End clearly depict LEX TALIONIS as an experimentalist technical band verging on the industrial. And what is more, the whole album is faithfully portraying the quality of LT’s music. A significant influence of classical music also plays its role here. It takes some time to be fully digested, but this is one of the most interesting albums of 2003. In fact, I cannot quite remember the last time I heard something like this from French shores.
